Dorothy Fuller and the Apparel Industry Foundation, Inc. a 501 © 3, the philanthropic division of the Apparel Industry Board, Inc., which is a 501 © 6 provide a unique service to companies who wish to supply their employees with smart, easily maintained, professional attire. This program is individualized to meet your specifications with professional clothing that is offered at the lowest price, the highest quality and without the hassle of minimum order requirements. Additionally, the product is made in Chicago.

City and County employees are looking better than ever because of AIFI! AIFI outfitted the Chicago Hilton and Towers wait staff with uniforms in 2002. Since then, the Cook County Treasurer’s Office has consulted with AIFI and contracted for uniforms for its 100+ employees. The results were so impressive that six more City/County agencies have sought consultation with AIFI for a new look.

There are basic designs a client can choose from which may be altered to provide a customized look for both women and men. Styles range from simple smocks to fitted and/or lined blazers. We will arrange to have several sample styles available for clients to view during their appointment. The manufacturer has a set price for each style. If a client wishes to alter the style, a new quote will be provided. After the design, color and fabric type have been agreed upon, the manufacturer will produce a sample. Samples are chargeable items and come with a one-time pattern fee.

AIFI will draft a purchase order that will list all items to be ordered, along with quantity, sizes and costs. Once the PO is approved and signed by the client, it is sent back to AIFI which will then forward it to the manufacturer to begin production of the uniforms.

Depending on quantity and style, uniforms are generally shipped to the client 4 to 6 weeks after the order is placed. Clients are welcome to reorder additional uniforms after the initial order has been received and payment has been remitted.

Uniform accessories are also available through a similar process. In addition to garment manufacturers, AIFI works with necktie and embroidery companies to give uniforms a special embellishment such as a company logo or a flattering scarf.

The Apparel Industry Foundation will charge a service fee which will include all consultation, fitting, and sourcing. Clients will be responsible for extra courier costs in transporting items between the manufacturer, client and/or AIFI.
