A 2-part stitching workshop designed for those who have never sewn before, or those who have never used industrial equipment and practices. Students will be introduced to industrial sewing equipment, basic seams, and the fundamentals of "cut and stitch" items.
Course projects: Tote Bag & Zip Bag
Course fee includes:
Hands on instruction on industrial machines by an industry professional of 20+ years; all project materials included, project pattern, and box lunch.
What you need to prepare:
We will have on-site kits with everything you need to participate in this workshop, so no need to bring anything. However, if you have sewing tools you like and are comfortable with, please bring your essentials.
Schedule of the Day:
Both workdays will start right at 10 AM, with the last 15 minutes or so for clean up. The first workday will begin with an orientation to the AIBI Fashion Lab.
You will have a 30-minute lunch break starting at 12:30pm.


Your instructor:
Xochil Herrera Scheer is the founder and president of The Chicago Pattern Maker. She's an expert in product development, pattern making and garment construction, has worked in the industry almost 20 years, and has been sewing most of her life. In this class, she will help prepare you with a solid foundation to sew like a pro!
